There's perhaps a time
when the wistfulness of life
shifts into high gear

you stand behind
the shifting prism
in everything

only you
spin the dial
turn the wheel

interestingly, the word dial (orig. clock-wheel) is cognate to both "day" and "diety." Now that dial-telephones are out-of-date, there's a slight nostalgia (for those of us of a certain age); the word hasn't yet wholly died out from common speech (but is apt to). The sun-dial of course also comes to mind.
