Hermitage (epigram 3)
The sadness of the world is but a phrase
within the cinema-dream of recollection
the pool if still enough for some reflection
describes an old & sylvan hermitage
notes begun impromptu / but likely to find form / or after a fashion haunt you

This is very good. Something about it makes me think of Ginzburg--the sensability, not the language. It is amazing how one can fuse a sublime thought with form--such is poetry, I guess.
hmm,
thanks for mentioning that. While it's not a line of association I myself would draw, it's interesting to hear this.
(And I tip a hat of hello to that late poet who struggled so hard and who presented a paradoxical but memorable explosiveness in American experience.) I once had the pleasure of hearing Ginsberg recite his amazing "Witchita Vortex Sutra" while Phil Glass noodled on a piano keyboard -- was in a benefit program at PS122 in gone years. That was when they were working out what became Hydrogen Jukebox "chamber opera." It was essentially Glass's tribute to Ginsburg's poetry. Nice when that happens while the poet is still alive & a collabotor.
Paradoxical is a good word. He's either great or he stinks. When he is good, he is magnificent. But when he forgets that he is not the reincarnation of Walt Whitman, things get dicey.
