"Charade" [boomerang]

There's more than meets the eye   in this charade
    you've got to ponder carefully   the gestures
for instance   when the rill ran through the glade
    or kine were wandering   amid the pastures?
the trees perchance   with portent then were lade!
    the landscape hides   a hundred subtle features
    and human life?   though ludicrous those creatures
