disappearing act [rubai-sonnet]
The words the time the life disappear
the memory even the knife disappear
the painting finished the canvas gone!
the easel the wall the strife disappear
the memory chip the disc disappear
the cheer & the sigh & the tsk disappear
the paper the pen the ink the thought
the words lethargic or brisk disappear
the lovely expression the curt reply
the clever rejoinder the lonely cry
the pleasurable meeting the irksome delay
the hard-won truth the bitter lie
to a seed in the mind when it all condenses
gone are the past & the future tenses
the memory even the knife disappear
the painting finished the canvas gone!
the easel the wall the strife disappear
the memory chip the disc disappear
the cheer & the sigh & the tsk disappear
the paper the pen the ink the thought
the words lethargic or brisk disappear
the lovely expression the curt reply
the clever rejoinder the lonely cry
the pleasurable meeting the irksome delay
the hard-won truth the bitter lie
to a seed in the mind when it all condenses
gone are the past & the future tenses

btw:
Poet-friend Rachel Dacus remarked on my "nonce form" (rubai-sonnet in the instance) -- googling which poetics term brought me to an essay:
Will Metrics in Poetry be Reborn? Try creating a personal nonce form.
Done that -- & will some more!
