The Puppet Show   [55-word story] | 1

He went to the fair with a rug under his arm,
outrolled it, lounged on an elbow, ready to enjoy
the puppet-show. Midday, sun overhead, he'd
secured a prime spot, perfect!

“Ladies and gentlemen,” the narrator began . . .

his eyes drooped, drowsy. Applause awoke him.

He rolled up his rug and went home.

[Based on a tale often told by Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. The 55-word story is apparently a prose form enjoying some current trendiness. This was my first try.]
