Circadian Transport [descending poem]
Switching from bus to
taxicab while talking
on cellphone halfway
down sixteenth street
is not unfamiliar to me
this occurs when running
late & calling Xiaodong
in Beijing where like here
spring is in bloom

The "descending poem" form is explained and illustrated by Jill Chan on her blog. On the Buffalo Poetics listserv, she invited others to give it a try. Hence the above.

hi david. good one. i'm very glad you tried the form out. the turn that you have here towards the last stanza is well done. thanks.
What a fun, liquid form. Will give it a try one of these days!
Thanks Jill; your approach to outlining a form conceptually, is a nice one. Of course, one could call it a 3-act play in miniature. ;-)
River -- yes, you must!
excellent poem!
your blog is full of spam comments!
thanks Kunal.
I've (at least temporarily) turned on "word verification" for the first time on my blog -- due to the sudden incursion of spam. In a matter of some few hours, I got upwards of 200 blog spam comments! (typically upwards of 8 per post) -- a rather weird way of spending the first hours of my birthday, deleting, one by one, these gratuitous, robotic posts. Ah well, at least I remain extant.
cheers,
d.i.
