Monsoon Vignette [ekphrasis]
How tenuous toys the world they say
like a dewdrop poised on a lotus leaf
a shimering noise in its quavering way
and all so brief
How wondrous blooms the world meseems
like a castle festooning the vacant air
it's spun from looms of lunacy's dreams
where foul or fair
Dumbfounding arrives the world indeed
like a field mouse dry on a puddled frog
astoundingly aye it upholds frail need
with rain agog
from an ekphrasis exercise on Caferati

Hello David.
Never commented here before, but I had so much fun writing a poem for this picture you've posted, I wanted to share it with you. Feel free to delete after you're done reading.
Frog is a river dweller and has all these acquaintances.
His eyes are mostly half-closed like he's trying
to distinguish between your average storm-front
and weather which brings about strange happenings.
Mouse climbs on his back and says let us escape
these rambunctious waters and go for a swim.
I think the two of us could make a great team.
You can be Crick and I'll be Watson.
Now get a move on because I am built for speed.
I want to feel my fur a blowin' back in the wind.
And how come you always look like you're not listening?
Holy Mother God, it's like talking to a stone.
Eventually frog, who always speaks in non sequiturs,
Aesopeanesque and grave, says: "Never venture
into deep waters unless you're wearing sequins,"
then goes for the plunge.
Thanks for the nice replying (or anyway, ekphrastic) poem, Antonia.
btw I've just now tweaked my verses (to further bring forward the internal rhymes).
cheers,
d.i.
