Take my eyes off you   I can't
how over your man you lean
with such soft-folded hands
      and grin

As renowned as the Tower of Pisa
your smile stands for   irony
yes!   why smiles Mona Lisa?
does she laugh at us? about us? despite us? with us?
      against us?
      another way?

In your silence you teach us what's requisite
Lisa!      how well does your image   prove
one who's seen     of the world     quite a bit
will smile   lay the hands atop the belly
      and stay mute
